Violence against women and girls is a global epidemic, most often occurring at the hands of husbands and partners. In 1995, 13 out of 100 countries had laws against domestic violence. Today that number is 76 out of 100. Despite this progress in legal protections, enforcement varies and is often lacking, leaving too many women at risk.
